Meditating boy Bomjon disappears

KATHMANDU, March 11 - A 16-year old teenager Ram Bahadur Bomjon, who has been meditating in the jungles of Ratanpuri village in Bara district, has disappeared since Friday night.
“Bomjom disappeared from the meditating site at around 3 am this morning,” said Harihar Dahal,, the assistant chief district officer told eKantipur over the phone.

“Police has been dispatched to search for him and we are still waiting for details,” Dahal said.

Meanwhile, state-run Nepal Television Saturday reported that whether Bomjom himself abandoned his mediation or somebody forcefully took him way was not clear.

The televison also reported that Bomjom’s clothes were found nearby the meditating site. (dds

तपस्वी अचानक गायब

बारा, फागुन २७ - दस महिनादेखि रतनपुरीको चारकोसे झाडीमा तपस्यारत किशोर शनिबार बिहान अकस्मात् गायब भएका छन् ।
तपस्वी रामबहादुर बम्जनले कसैलाई थाहा नदिई बिहान तीनदेखि चार बजेबीच तपस्या स्थल छाडेको स्वयंसेवक रामबहादुर वाइबाले बताए । 'बिहान सिमसिमे पानी पर्दै थियो, स्वयंसेवकहरू सय मिटरजति पर त्रिपालमा सुतेका थियौं,' उनले भने- 'उहाँले कसैलाई पत्तै नदिई तपस्या स्थल छाड्नुभएछ ।' १७ वषर्ीय तपस्वीको स्थिति साँझसम्म अज्ञात छ । रतनपुरीकै यी किशोरले तपस्या थालेको शनिबार २ सय ९९ दिन पुग्दै थियो ।

करिब १२ स्वयंसेवी बिहानैदेखि वनका भिन्नाभिन्नै क्ष्ाेत्रमा खोजतलासमा लागेका छन् । तपस्या स्थलभन्दा करिब ३० मिटर पर सुक्खा कुलोमा तपस्वीले प्रयोग गरेको वस्त्र गाडेको अवस्थामा फेला परेको वाइबाले बताए ।

अर्का स्वयंसेवी टंकबहादुर थिङले करिब तीन किमि दक्षिण फायर लाइनमा तपस्वीलाई देखेको दाबी गरे । '२० मिटर वरैबाट उहाँलाई देखंे, देख्नासाथ म अलमल्ल परंे, मुखबाट बोली निस्केन,' उनले भने- 'उहाँ भने मलाई एकछिन नियालेर आफ्नो बाटो -दक्षिण) तर्फ लाग्नुभयो ।' पहिले खुला छाडिएको लामो कपाल बाटेको अवस्थामा तपस्वीलाई देखेको उनको दाबी छ ।

तपस्या स्थलको रेखदेखमा रहेको ॐ नमोबुद्ध तपस्वी सेवा समितिका सिद्धार्थ लामाले तपस्वीले कोलाहल भएकाले छाडेको हुनसक्ने बताए । गत जेठमा पनि उनी १० मिटर पर सरेका थिए । तपस्वीका सहयोगी एवं पुजारी प्रेम लामाले स्थल परिवर्तनबारे उनले आफूलाई संकेत नदिएको बताए ।

तपस्वी एक्कासि हराएकाले उनकी आमा मायादेवी अचेतझैं भएकी छन् । उनी एक्लै रुँदै, बरबराउँदै ईश्वरसँग छोराको कुशलताको कामना मात्र गरिरहेकी छन् । तपस्वी उनका साइँला छोरा हुन् । यस घटनाले श्रद्धालुहरूलाई पनि चिन्तित बनाएको छ । जतिसक्दो चाँडो उनलाई खोज्न उनीहरूले समिति र प्रहरी प्रशासनसँग माग गरेका छन् ।

'तपस्वीबारे हामी पनि चिन्तित छौं,' प्रहरी उपरीक्ष्ाक माधवप्रसाद नेपालले भन्नुभयो- 'हराएको सूचना मिल्नासाथ विभिन्न किसिमले खोजतलास गरिरहेका छौं ।' कहाँ, कसरी खोजीमा जुटेकोबारे भने उहाँले खुलाउनुभएन ।

बम्जनले गत जेठ २ गते घर छाडेको भोलिपल्ट तपस्या सुरु गरेका थिए । तपस्या स्थल महेन्द्र राजमार्गबाट करिब नौ किमि उत्तर छ ।

Say what you may of him, he did not ask for all this attention and hooplah. So, it is quite befitting that he left the place to look for quieter, more detached place to seek whatever he is seeking. More power to him!

अकस्मात हराएका तपस्वी किशोरको खोजी गर्न सुरक्षाकर्मीसहित करिब एक हजार संख्याको समूह परिचालन गरिएको छ । रतनपुरका तपस्वी रामबहादुर बम्जन शनिबार बिहानदेखि बेपत्ता भएका थिए ।
परिवार, सुरक्षाकर्मी र स्थानीयवासीको समूहले आइतबार साँझसम्म जंगल चहारेको थियो । उनी सजिलै फेला पर्न नसकेपछि धार्मिक अनुष्ठानसमेत सुरु गरिएको छ । आइतबार मध्याह्नदेखि तपस्यास्थलमा हिन्दु र बौद्ध परम्पराअनुसार भूमि सिद्धी र नाग होम पूजा सुरु गरिएको हो ।

तपस्वीकी आमा रित्तो पीपलको रूख हेर्दै छोरो र्फकने आसमा बसेकी छन् । 'ऊ हराएदेखि भोक पनि हरायो,' आँसु झार्दै आमा मायादेवीले भनिन्- 'जहाँ भए पनि सकुशल होस् ।' वातावरण अशान्त बन्दै गएकाले छोराले स्थल छाडेको हुन सक्ने उनको अडकल छ ।

तपस्वी हराएको समयमा काठमाडौंमा रहेका ॐ नमोबुद्ध तपस्वी सेवा समितिका अध्यक्ष वेदबहादुर लामासहितको टोली फर्किएपछि खोजी तीव्र पारिएको छ । खोजीका लागि व्यापारीहरू पनि लागेका छन् । तपस्यास्थल वरिपरि पसल थापेर गुजारा चलाउँदै आएका उनीहरू तपस्वी हराएको थाहा पाएपछि निक्कै चिन्तित छन् । 'उनी पनि हराए, व्यापार पनि सुक्ने भो,' मकवानपुर छतिवनका हर्क लामाले भने- 'बुबा र दाइ तपस्वी खोज्न जंगल पस्नुभएको छ ।' यस भेगमा पसल राख्ने झन्डै तीन सय व्यापारी खोजीमा जुटेका छन् । 'उनी नफर्के त परिवारको गुजारा नै चल्दैन,' चिया पसले लालीमायाले भनिन् । सबैले खोजे पनि तपस्वी भेटिने सम्भावना कम रहेको खोजीमा खटिएकाले बताएका छन् । 'सायद खोजेर मात्र भेटिन्न होला,' कमिटी अध्यक्ष लामाले निराशा हुँदै भने- 'यत्रो जंगलमा खोजेर के साध्य ।'

यसैबीच समितिले आइतबार आय-व्यय सार्वजनिक गर्‍यो । भेटीबाट १२ लाख १० हजार ५ सय ७६ रुपैयाँ आम्दानी भएकोमा ५ लाख ७४ हजार ३ सय ८२ रुपैयाँ खर्च भई ६ लाख ३६ हजार १ सय ९४ रुपैयाँ बचेको जानकारी दिएको छ ।

‘Little Buddha’ missing, Nepal finds ‘Little Vishnu’

As scores of volunteers and policemen began searching the dense forest of Char Koshe Jadi in southern Nepal to locate their enigmatic ‘Little Buddha’, missing from his usual meditation site since Saturday morning, icon-hungry believers in central Nepal began building up the myth of a new ‘Little Vishnu”, hailing as divine a 14-year-old boy with severe dwarfism.



As scores of volunteers and policemen began searching the dense forest of Char Koshe Jadi in southern Nepal to locate their enigmatic ‘Little Buddha’, missing from his usual meditation site since Saturday morning, icon-hungry believers in central Nepal began building up the myth of a new ‘Little Vishnu”, hailing as divine a 14-year-old boy with severe dwarfism.

Till Sunday afternoon, searchers in Bara district had found no signs of Ram Bahadur Bomjan, the 16-year-old boy from Ratanpuri who made global headlines last year after he was reported to have begun meditation, like the Buddha, under a peepul tree, living without food and water for over 10 months. Believers claimed the school dropout was either the reincarnation of the Buddha or a holy Buddhist monk and had supernatural powers, including surviving snakebites twice.

However, sceptics were unconvinced as the boy remained hidden from spectators from dusk to dawn when his “priests” screened him off. A team of government officials who had visited the site for a scientific investigation was not allowed by the committee to touch the boy, monitor his heart beat or take blood samples.


Bomjan’s mother Maya was reported to be praying for the restoration of her son while a volunteer was reported as saying he had seen the gaunt, long-haired boy wander off on his own on early Saturday morning. The search continued even as a committee ruled out their icon’s abduction by Maoists, saying he could have gone deeper into the forest for solitude.

However, even before the dust raised by the search had settled, devotees found a new icon in Pokhara city in western Nepal.

Khagendra Thapa Magar, a 14-year-old boy who measures only 20 inches and weighs 4 kg, is being acclaimed as Baman Avatar, another reincarnation of Vishnu who assumed the form of a dwarf to humble a mighty king, according to mythology. The little boy’s parents, residents of Baglung district, brought him to the popular tourist town to put him up as an exhibit at the Pokhara Shopping Complex, charging curious visitors an admission fee, which they said would be used to get treatment for Khagendra. The boy has a speech impediment but is otherwise healthy and mentally alert, his parents said. The family’s arrival in Pokhara coincided with the arrival of late winter rains, bringing joy to farmers who had been fearing another drought.

Some people attributed the rain to Khagendra and the legend of the ‘Little Vishnu’ began to take root. Within 48 hours, 50,000 people had queued up to catch a glimpse of the new marvel

ALSO, Just like the case in pokhara, i saw in cnn few months back...it was like 12 years old girl who was born normal but never grew up..i coudn;t remember the title..you can email cnn and ask about it....the girl was like a baby ......and her younger sisters was bigger than her..i think that was the defect in genes..coudln't remember it properly...if you want to know about i think you can email CNN...they might give information..that was the first time i saw such things and i was shocked.....
